'22 Sangiovese and Gyro Sliders
Ingredients
- 1 lb 85/15 Ground Beef
- 1 lb Ground Lamb
- 2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 2 Tbsp Dried Oregano
- 2 Tbsp Salt
- 2 Tbsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
- Slider Buns or Sliced Fresh Baguette
- Pickled Red Onion Slices
- For Tzatziki Sauce:
- ½ cup Grated Cucumber
- 1 c Whole Milk Greek Yogurt
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- ½ Tbsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic
- ¼ tsp Sea Salt
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Fresh Dill or 1/2 Tbsp dried dill
Directions
- Prepare Tzatziki by mixing all ingredients in a small bowl and seasoning with salt to taste. This gives the sauce time to blend flavors while sliders are being prepared. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Add Ground Beef, Ground Lamb and all seasonings to a large bowl and mix together with your hands until well blended.
- Using a small scoop measure out 3 oz portions of meat mixture and form into small patties. Season patties with your favorite bbq seasoning blend. We used Pappy's Lemon Pepper Seasoning.
- Grill or fry patties as desired - for the pick up party, we grilled the patties over a red oak fire.
- Toast buns or baguette slices and top with slider patty, Tzatziki Sauce and pickled red onion.
